Ghost Adventures EVP?

Question:
So I’m watching Ghost Adventures and apparently they have a recorder that says what it catches with a computer voice. If you ask me it seems kinda iffy, isn’t it just possible they type those words in themselves and it says it out loud?

If not, how is it that such recorded catches voices and repeats them?
@NotMe, yes, that is the device I’m talking about. :)

They sit there and play with audio every way possible until they get something that sort of sounds a little like words. It’s so much wishful thought that it’s hilarious.

  2. are you talking where the machine is suppose to interpret what the ghost wants to say, and has that robotic type voice?if that is what you are talking about yes I agree Iffy if at all, I think if the machine worked the way they quickly explained it then it should also pick up everyone in the room emotions and thoughts, I never heard that it recorded the voice, I haven’t watched that show for awhile, but if it really worked the way they say, then why all the running around why not just stay where you get your first hit and start asking questions?
*edit* I watched last nights episode, and as tomb raider pointed out, I believe it was a form of a franks box, I have seen them use another device that had a camera and the word would display on a screen, plus Zac was wearing some sort of goggles, I believe to have been infared or night vision, and it seemed to have been hooked up to the box.
here are some others it may have been also, I am giving you a web page to view

perhaps this is what was used last night, The Talker or Inductive Probe

  3. Nilka,I have watched this show ever since it has come out. This device first started as Frank’s box.It is a device that contains so many words in it’s data base. There is also a device that is newer called an ovilous. You can type both of these in on line and learn more regarding them.Paranormal investigators feel that these devices help the spirits to form words to communicate with the investigators. They work off of using white noise and an am and fm frequency. Some times they are refered to as a spook box.I can give you a site for discounted equipment,go to http://www.ghost-mart.com. You can find them on this site and most likely the info that you are seeking.Make sure you click on spook box,it will explain the theory behind them.I hope this is of some help to you.

  4. Their EVP is more than kinda iffy, its BS, plain and simple. If you filter, edit, and amplify any recording enough, you are eventually going to get electronic noise that sounds like something else (a voice, scream, moan, cry, whatever).

From watching these shows occasionally, I have seen absolutely nothing that convinces me that what they have recorded is a voice from a spirit or ghost and not simply electronic noise and interference. Without knowing exactly what techniques they are using and seeing other groups independently verify this EVP using other techniques, there is absolutely zero credible evidence that this EVP is anything more than an anomaly.

  5. hmmm..I wish I knew the answer but I don’t. Anyways, I don’t really trust Ghost Adventures- only Ghost Hunters for me so you can’t be too sure
