Just out of curiousity. As believers.. why do we call the Holy Spirit a Ghost?

Question:
Where did this come from?
I noticed that the King James Version is one of the few bibles that refer to the Spirit of God as a Holy Ghost.
But what I do not understand is why change when the reference to Him in John 4:24
“God is Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

Ghost by defination is
1. the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as a vague, shadowy or evanescent form, as wandering among or haunting living persons.
2. a mere shadow or semblance; a trace: He’s a ghost of his former self.
3. a remote possibility: He hasn’t a ghost of a chance.
4. (sometimes initial capital letter) a spiritual being.
5. the principle of life; soul; spirit.

Does this do justice to GOD?

If you have any information regarding the reason behind using the Holy Ghost rather than Holy Spirit in the King James version bible please share.

I am still unsure of the origin and must say that it is still very experimental, are these real voices of the paranormal? Are the words we hear of ghosts, demons or perhaps some other entity and origin? Those of you that have been watching on here for the past couple months know that I’m trying to figure out if my house is haunted. Mainly the hall, because a lot of the strange things happen there. Now, the other day the bathroom door shut on it’s on, while I was getting ready for work. My cat was sitting it front of it, and it pushed him into me. I decided it was time for another test. It’s also time for my team and I do a full investigation here. That will be done next weekend.

There’s an apparent haunted house in my area, I want to find out as much information as I can on this place (history, news, past residents, etc.) to shut everyone up. Who would I call? Thank you.
